London house moving company · UK and overseas

The house moving company that writes a guide to every town

We move households with our own lorries and vans, and we work alongside partner removal firms whose combined experience runs to more than 100 years. What we learn on the road goes into a practical guide for each city and town, one place at a time.

One company, three jobs

Most house moving companies do one thing: they move you. A directory passes you on to movers, and a trade network swaps jobs between firms. We do all three, and each feeds the others: the moves tell us what is worth writing down, the guides bring us the questions, and our partner firms let us say yes to work no single company could take on alone.

We write the guides

A practical moving guide for every city and town, starting with the places people actually move to and from. Parking, access, what a move there costs and why. Each one is written to be worth reading even if no search engine ever sent anybody to it.

We move you

Our own crews, lorries and vans, sized to the job: a single wardrobe across town, a four bedroom house to another county, or a household to Spain. The price comes from what you own and the access at both ends.

We back other movers

A Glasgow firm with a customer moving to Málaga rarely sends its own lorry to the Costa del Sol and back. When another house moving company needs a crew, a vehicle or a European leg, we take the job on or bring in the partner who can.

Working with other firms

What we can do for your move

  1. Quote it

A price built on your inventory and the access at both ends, rather than a guess from a postcode.

  2. Book it

The date, the crew and the vehicle, for your own move or for a job you are arranging on someone else's behalf.

  3. Move it

Our own lorries and vans for work across most of the UK and runs into Europe.

  4. Organise it

When a move needs more than one firm, such as a partner at the far end, we arrange the movers between us.

For house moving companies: extra hands, extra lorries and straight answers

Subcontracting is ordinary practice in removals. A firm takes a booking it cannot staff on the day, or a customer asks for a delivery to a country the firm does not run to, and the work goes to someone who can do it properly at an agreed rate. We sit on both sides of that arrangement, in the UK and across Europe.

  • A crew and vehicle for a day that has outgrown your own diary
  • Collections and deliveries across most of the UK and anywhere in Europe
  • Quoting and booking for a job outside your usual area
  • Answers to trade questions, many of which become guides the next firm can find

A guide for every city and town, written to one rule

The aim is easy to state and slow to do: a useful moving guide for every city and town, in the UK first and then wherever our customers go. 20 guides are published so far.

Before a guide goes out it has to pass one test. Would it be worth reading if search engines did not exist? That rules out pages that repeat what five other sites already say, and it keeps the details only someone who has done the move would think to mention.

Specific

Numbers, thresholds, rates and deadlines. "Costs vary" is what gets written when nobody has done the work.

Sourced

Any rule or figure that comes from elsewhere names where it came from, so you can check it yourself.

Local

Which streets need a parking suspension, what a tower block lift will take, how far the crew has to carry.

Dated

Every guide shows when it was published and last updated, because moving rules change.

Questions people ask us

Are you a removals company or a directory?

A removals company. Onemove Limited trades as House Moving Companies and runs its own lorries and vans. It is registered at Companies House under number 08717311, which you can check on the public register. We also work with partner removal firms, for jobs that need more capacity than one company has on the day or a firm based at the far end.

Can you help other house moving companies with a job?

Yes. Passing work between firms is normal in this trade, and we do it in both directions. We can supply a crew and vehicle for a day your own diary cannot cover, take a collection or delivery in most of the UK or in Europe, or quote and book a job outside your usual area. Send the details through our trade job form, or call us.

Which areas do you cover?

Our own vehicles work across most of the UK and run into Europe. Moves further afield go by sea or air, arranged with partner firms and shipping lines.

How do I get a price for my move?

Fill in the quote form with what you are moving and the access at both ends: the floor, whether there is a lift, and how close a vehicle can park. Those details decide the crew size and the vehicle, so they decide the price. If you are not sure how much you have, the form has a room by room estimator that works out the volume for you.

Why write guides for towns you may never move anyone to?

Because most of what makes a move go well or badly is local. Parking rules, narrow streets, lift sizes and how far a crew has to carry are worth writing down for every place, and a good guide helps the reader whichever company ends up doing the move.

Who checks the guides before they are published?

Each guide is written to the standard in our editorial policy: plain British English, edited before publication, with the source named for any rule or figure that comes from somewhere else. Every guide shows when it was first published and when it was last updated, and a correction is made to the guide itself rather than by quietly deleting it.
